Personalised Nutrition in Practice

NEWTRITION X. on 6 October 2019 in Cologne: Innovation summit will present concepts and feasibility case studies for the food and retail industries
We have received the following news item from NEWTRITION X (foodRegio e.V.):

The second edition of NEWTRITION X. will soon be upon us: the event, taking place during Anuga in Cologne, will this year focus on the practical implementation of Personalised Nutrition with ten expert lectures targeting decision makers from the food and retail industries.

From a medico-nutritional point of view, personalisation is now regarded as an effective weapon in the fight against obesity and associated secondary diseases. How to make the concept a reality, despite its practical complexities, is the topic of several lectures during NEWTRITION X. The main focus will be on challenges and opportunities within the retail trade, which is vital for the success of individualised diets.

Roland Napierala, Business Development Manager at Miele, and Michael Haase, CEO and founder of PlantJammer, will discuss the role of artificial intelligence and intelligent home devices. In their joint lecture, “Making Personalised Nutrition a Daily Habit,” they will present new technologies and digital solutions for everyday use.

Ignace de Nollin, Managing Director at SmartWithFood, asks: “What impact does Personalised Nutrition have on the retail trade?” The company, a spin-off from Belgium’s largest retailer, offers a digital information platform that can be used by retailers to advise consumers about their diet and provide informed food recommendations.

Nick Holzherr, CEO of the British company Whisk, will examine “The Internet of Food: Opportunities Through the Linking of Data” and explain how retailers can benefit and how an app could enhance personalised shopping lists. Lectures in German will be simultaneously translated.

Prof. Björn P. Jacobsen from foodRegio e.V., notes: “NEWTRITION X. covers the whole spectrum of Personalised Nutrition — from the scientific basics and new technologies to practical applications in industry and trade environments. Our goal is to provide food for thought to representatives from the entire supply chain. The future of nutrition is personalised, and it begins now.”

The one-day event, organised by industry network foodRegio e.V. in cooperation with Anuga, will take place on 6 October 2019 from 10.00-17.30 in the Rheinsaal of the Koelnmesse Congress-Centrum North. In addition to the expert lectures, participants will also be able to attend an accompanying exhibition and network.
